Communication is the key

Not feeling understood by people in your life?

There may be many reasons for this, everything from having completely different personalities, being from completely different environments – or if it is something more personal! One of these reasons could also be your menstrual cycles. Your monthly ups and downs have the power to confuse anyone, even women!

Even though it is easier for women to understand women, since we all go through similar happenings, it is not guaranteed that everyone will connect the dots. As we discussed, menstrual cycles are sadly still a taboo topic. This means that menstrual cycles are rarely discussed among people, whether it is between men and women, men and man or woman and another woman.

So with this said, women might not be so open to discuss their own menstrual cycles, and in general might not be aware enough to realize how much their hormones affect themselves. And even if a woman is aware of her menstrual ups and downs, that does not mean that other women are going through the same thing. Remember, we are all unique, every woman is experiencing her menstrual cycle differently and therefore, any woman in your life might not get how you can change moods in your specific pattern!

When it comes to men in your life – this might be a bit more complicated. Men don’t live the same cycles as women do. To read more about this, read our post on males hormones. Therefore they might need a bit of extra information to understand how your life works.

This is why communication is very important when it comes to understanding your inner happenings. But we have to highlight, the first step is self awareness. A woman can not efficiently communicate what is going on within her if she is not aware of her cycle patterns. For example, there is a big difference in how the next sentence is going to be perceived.

I feel a bit — insert what you feel —-, and I do not know why! (Has a bit of a uncertain, distressed tone)

Or

I feel a bit — insert what you feel —-, but this happens every time I am in my ….. phase! ( Has much more reassuring and certain tone)

So, our advice is to decode your cycle, discover your pattern, explain this pattern to people around you, listen to their observations and start living a life in which people will simply understand you better!

P.S.: This will make a huge difference in realizing whether you are dealing with actual “drama”, or just “drama” created by your own hormones!
